Reaching for God on the Internet

Google reports that approximately 6,000 individuals search the Internet every single month for “how to become a Christian” or a variation of that phrase.  And hundreds of thousands more search for other connected terms as they use the Internet in their quest to find God.  A lot of people, who have avoided God for many years, have a tendency to turn to the Internet when they ultimately choose to seek out more information on the Bible and the Christian faith.  It may well be they are embarrassed to finally acknowledge they need a spiritual link in their lives.  It might be they merely want to make this quest on their own.  Whatever the reason, the Internet has become a good place for many to seek out a deeper comprehension of God, the Bible, and the value of going to a Christian church.

Almost every church has a website now and there are many other Christian organizations with websites that detail all facets of the Christian faith.  Some sites are dedicated to helping unbelievers find God and others are created to be utilized by believers as a faith sharing tool.  There is no question the Internet has become a device a lot of Christian believers are making use of to help God seek and save the lost.

The Bible instructs Christians to be prepared to answer questions from unbelievers and many believe that God gives believers opportunities to share their faith from time to time.  A good way to always be ready is to explore some of the Christian outreach sites by doing your own search.  Pretend you are an unbeliever searching for the love of God and type in some search terms you might use to find the spiritual connection you are seeking.  It may also be a good strategy to ask members of your church to suggest any sites that might be good sources for unbelievers searching for God.  Make a list of the sites you find that are valuable and manage them in some manner so that you’ll be able to share them quickly when the possibility presents itself.

Just about all Christian websites will be thankful for any help you can give in supporting their efforts to share the Word of God with the world.  I often see websites advertising, “Christian writers needed” in an effort to appeal to Christian bloggers and others to use as promotional assistants.  Just about every Christian website is looking for individuals who can write about their site and hopefully create a link to their site that will help improve traffic and help make more connections with individuals in need.  We can all help God in this way by working together developing faith sharing networks that offer the Gospel in several distinct forms.  Everybody reaches out to God in a different way and the more voices of faith we have on the Internet the better.
