God in this World
The extraordinary complexities of the world we live in propose to me there must have been a a God who designed and created it all. Accepting that all the remarkable aspects of plants, animals, and the natural cycles of the earth merely occurred randomly, seem as silly to me as believing the computer I’m typing on came about by accident.
When I gaze beyond the fundamental creation of man and the incredible ability we have to create and develop our world, I again see something beyond our understanding at work. I see what I perceive to be miracles taking place just about every day all around us. The mere fact that the majority of us are able to have drinking water in abundance on a regular basis is, in my opinion, a miracle. There are parts of this world that still struggle with finding ample drinking water, and those cultures are profound reminders of how miraculous it is for most of the world to have this valuable resource at their fingertips at all times.
In my view the Creator and provider of these continuing miracles is the God of the Bible. I further trust God did more than supply us with all the things we need to maintain our lives and create amazing tools and technology to make our lives more enjoyable. God also provided us with an inborn conscience that can tell the difference between right and wrong. In the same way a spider intuitively knows how to spin a web, and a bee intuitively knows how to pollinate flowers, you and I intuitively understand there is good and evil in this world. God gave us this understanding and He also gave us the freedom to choose our own personal path.
Each day, many times over, we have the choice to travel a path of good or evil. We can be truthful, or slightly deceptive. We can help others, or help only ourselves. We can share what we have, or keep it locked up in a safe place for personal enjoyment. When we reveal ourselves through love we exhibit those good qualities over the evil that tends to drive us off into selfishness. The love of God is readily available to all of us in this world and we find Him when we take hold of our inborn need to love one another.
We can commit a lot of time looking for a spiritual link other than God, but from my perspective any link we make based on love is a connection made by God. One of the best known Christian quotes comes directly from the Bible and it tells the entire story, “God is Love.” We may have an vision of God as a man with long hair and a beard, but the Bible tells us clearly that God is spirit and that spirit is the spirit of love.
